The problem of role selection is key to enabling dynamic cooperation among robots. Using scenarios derived from animal behaviors, such as group foraging and hunting, we are developing a theory of role selection for cooperative, competitive, and mixed interactions between agents. Necessary to informed role selection are means for agents to infer each others' behavior and intent. These topics are the focus of our current efforts.
